Lights, Action, and Flying Targets: Experience Shamrock’s 5-Stand and Glow Bird Night Shooting

If you’ve never experienced shooting under the lights at Shamrock Sporting Clays, you’re missing one of the most exciting and unique shooting experiences in the Laurel Highlands. Our fully enclosed, two-story 5-Stand facility offers shooters an entirely different challenge than your normal sporting clays. It’s fast-paced, exciting, and designed to keep shooters engaged from the first target to the last. For those unfamiliar with the game, 5-Stand combines elements of sporting clays and trap shooting into one compact experience. Unlike sporting clays, where shooters travel throughout a course, 5-Stand allows participants to experience multiple target presentations from five fixed shooting stations. At each station, shooters encounter a variety of target presentations, including:

• Single Targets

• Report Pairs (one target followed by another)

• True Pairs (two targets launched simultaneously)

With eight different target presentations available, every round offers a unique challenge and plenty of excitement. A complete round consists of 25 targets, with shooters rotating through all five stations. The format is easy to learn, fun for beginners, and challenging enough to keep experienced shooters coming back for more. While daytime shooting on the 5-Stand is always enjoyable, things become truly unforgettable when the sun goes down.

From November through March, Shamrock transforms the 5-Stand into a one-of-a-kind nighttime shooting venue featuring glow in-the-dark targets illuminated under blacklights. The first time you watch a glowing clay streak across the night sky, you’ll understand why this has become one of our most popular seasonal attractions. Night shooting creates a completely different experience. The glowing targets challenge your focus, sharpen your reactions, and add an entirely new level of excitement to every shot. Whether you’re an avid shooter or trying the sport for the first time, Glow Bird Night Shooting offers a memorable experience unlike anything else in the region.

One of the best features of our night shooting program is that our 5-Stand is housed inside a fully enclosed, heated structure. Even during the winter months, shooters can stay comfortable while enjoying the excitement of shooting under the lights. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors without battling the elements.

First Time Under the Lights?

Don’t worry. Every Glow Bird group is assisted by a Shamrock trapper throughout the experience. Our trappers help operate the targets, keep the round moving smoothly, offer shooting tips, and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. For shooters new to night shooting, we recommend experiencing the 5-Stand during daylight hours first to become familiar with the target presentations and layout.

Pricing and Reservations

Glow Bird Night Shooting is available seasonally from November through March on Friday and Saturday evenings from sundown until 9:00 PM. Reservations are required and the facility is booked in one-hour increments.
